For the summer of 2026, IDEO offers Dominican brothers in philosophical or theological formation a one-month introductory course in Arabic language and Islamic studies. This course aims to expose the brothers, during their formation, to the reality of the Islamic world in its beliefs and lived experience, thereby contributing to the essential development of a culture of dialogue and encounter—an “intrinsic requirement to experience the communal joy of the Truth” and to “deepen its meaning and practical implications” (Veritatis Gaudium 4.b).

From a methodological perspective, the program begins with an introduction to the Arabic language to highlight its logic and theological dimension. In addition to language classes, courses in Islamic studies and training in Arabic liturgy will be provided, enabling students to participate in religious services. Students will attend both group and individual lessons and will be divided into three levels: Beginner 1, Beginner 2, and Intermediate.
