TRINITARIAN THEOLOGY IN THE GOSPEL OF JOHN AND THE NEW TESTAMENT
Faith in the One God runs through the whole Bible (Dt 6,4-9; 2Sm 7,22; 1R 8,60; Is 44,6-8; 45,5-6.14,22; 48,10-12…). It is of course taken up by Jesus himself (Mk 12:28-34 and parallels) and the authors of the New Testament (Jn 5:44; 17:3; Rom 3:30; 16:27; Gal 3:20; 1Cor 8:4; 1Tm 1:17; 2:3b-6)…
But on the mountain of the Transfiguration, the light of the Son dazzled St. John, the voice of the Father reassured him and in his Gospel, he will lead us into the Mystery of this eternal Relationship that was manifested in Jesus, the Christ, between the Son of God and his Father… And such is the heart of his discovery, exposed from the first line of his work: « the Word », the Son, the Word of the Father, « is God », and before all « beginning », he is « near God » the Father, turned « towards » Him, living in relationship with Him… We will see to what extent our Nicene Constantinopolitan Creed is present in this Gospel of John, in his Letters but also in the works of St. Luke and St. Paul.
With them, we will also discover the foundations of the Revelation of the Holy Spirit, also true God, and we will see, especially with St. John, what is his work today towards every man of good will…
