DESCRIPTION:The Civitas Dei Summer Fellowship\nFriendship\, Happiness\, and the Search for God: Aristotle\, Augustine\, & Aquinas\nDominican House of Studies & The Catholic University of America | Washington\, D.C. \nJune 11 – 16\, 2023 \nThe Civitas Dei Summer Fellowship is a project sponsored by the Institute for Human Ecology at the Catholic University of America and by the Thomistic Institute at the Dominican House of Studies that offers competitive fellowships for graduate students (and a few talented\, upper-level undergraduates)\, drawing from across fields in the sciences\, humanities\, and from law. \nAccepted fellowship recipients attend a one week program in Washington\, D.C. that offers courses and seminars given by distinguished scholars focusing on some aspect of Catholic thought in relation to culture and public life. \nThis year’s Civitas Dei fellowship examines “Friendship\, Happiness\, and the Search for God\,” and will feature lectures that approach the question of happiness from different scholarly perspectives\, drawing on resources from ancient\, patristic\, and scholastic perspectives. By participating in this fellowship\, accepted students will be introduced to a wealth of scholarly resources on friendship\, and encouraged to think critically about the application of these principles to private and public life. \n2023 Featured Speakers: \nProf. Russell Hittinger (The Catholic University of America) \nFr. Dominic Legge\, O.P. (Dominican House of Studies) \nProf. Michael Gorman (The Catholic University of America) \nOpen to graduate students and advanced undergraduates in all disciplines.
