Russell Berrie Fellowship in Post-Doctoral, Licentiate or Diploma in Interreligious Studies at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas – Angelicum, Rome

I. The John Paul II Center for Interreligious Dialogue (JPII Center) is pleased to announce the call for nominations for a Russell Berrie Post-Doctoral Fellow in Interreligious Studies at the Angelicum University for the 2021-2022 academic year is extended until April 15, 2021. This position is offered to Dominican brothers and sisters who have a PhD/STD degree and who might be interested in spending a year at the Angelicum researching the area of interreligious dialogue.  

The Center will provide funding and support for one academic year to one post-doctoral scholar at the Angelicum.

  • Funding period:      one fellowship per year in AY 2021-2022
  • Amount of award:  EUR 20,000/academic year
  • This amount will be transferred directly to post-doc fellow and is intended to cover any tuition and fees of the Angelicum, modest living expenses in Rome, book allowance, as well as travel to and from fellow’s home country to Rome once a year.
Post-doctoral award requirements and expectations:
  • Submitted a research proposal that is approved by an academic supervisor at the Angelicum;
  • Pursue a research project in the field of interreligious studies;
  • Meet and follow the academic requirements established by the Angelicum for the post-doctoral position;
  • Presence in Rome for the academic year;
  • Participation in all extra-curricular events organized as part of the XIV cohort of the Russell Berrie Fellowship (2021-2022) including but not limited to the Orientation program for Russell Berrie Fellows, an academic workshop that precedes the study tour to Israel, Israel Study Tour (10 days during winter break), and IRD skill-building workshop and other events during the academic year;
  • Will be invited to attend/audit the courses of visiting faculty that are organized by the John Paul II Center for Interreligious Dialogue at the Angelicum (this expectation may be waived);
  • Commitment to take part in the Network of John Paul II Center Leaders in Interreligious Dialogue (alumni of the program) after graduation;
  • Give a public lecture to present his/her research project in interreligious dialogue.

II. ONE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP FOR LICENTIATE IN THEOLOGY OR DIPLOMA IN INTERRELIGIOUS STUDIES. The John Paul II Center for Interreligious Dialogue is pleased to announce the call for applications for the Russell Berrie Fellowship Interreligious Studies for the 2021-2022 academic year is extended until April 26, 2021. It is a one-year academic fellowship for students pursuing a Licentiate Degree in Theology with a specialization in Ecumenism and Dialogue; or a Diploma in Interreligious Studies.
